Volunteer Leadership Opportunities

Classical Music Indy welcomes individuals representing a variety of backgrounds and experiences to engage as volunteer leaders through a wide range of opportunities.

NOTE Magazine Advisory Board (Young professionals ages 25-39)

Beautifully designed with compelling editorial content, NOTE celebrates Indy’s vibrant music scene, stimulates local pride in the arts, and gets audiences excited about listening to classical music and supporting local artists and arts organizations. The NOTE Magazine Community Advisory Board, comprised of local community members, discusses relevant music themes and topics that form NOTE story ideas and potential interview subjects. Time Commitment: 2-3 meetings per year.

Special Project Advisors

Classical Music Indy continually develops new projects that expand content offerings for artists and audiences. These projects often require academic or professional expertise beyond the talents of current team members. Special project advisors serve on a temporary basis, either advising staff 1:1 or in small groups, and reviewing materials between meetings. Time Commitment: 1-2 meetings per year, with up to 5 hours review of materials.

Board of Directors (Governance and Fiduciary Responsibility)

Classical Music Indy’s Board of Directors provides oversight and guidance on mission, vision, programs, resource development, and financial sustainability. Each board member commits to attend and participate in board meetings at a high attendance rate, serve on at least one board committee, make a meaningful financial contribution each year of the board member’s term; and connect Classical Music Indy staff to potential donors and/or community partners. Time Commitment: 3-year terms; 6 meetings per year, plus 3-4 committee meetings.

Community Members Serving on Board Committees

Classical Music Indy regularly invites community members to serve on board committees, typically aligned with the individual’s professional expertise. In 2021, those committees welcoming non-board community members to serve are Finance, Audience Development, and Content Development. Time Commitment: 3-4 meetings per year.
