NEW CLASSICAL – OLYMPIC PLAYLIST

July 19, 2021

New Classical Featured Playlist – 07/19/2021 – 08/01/2021

In honor of the 2021 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, we are bringing you a playlist filled with music that embodies the spirit of the Olympics. The Olympics are a great way to show the great achievements of athletes from all over the world. It is also common for the host country to ask a composer to write a piece of music as the theme for that year’s Olympics. Composers that have written for the Olympics include Richard Strauss, Leonard Bernstein, Michael Torke, John Williams, and more. This playlist includes larger-than-life pieces, triumphant fanfares, and even compositions by Olympic medalists from when the Olympics held competitions in the arts (1912-1948).

NEW CLASSICAL – PHIL KLINE

As the Christmas holiday approaches, we wanted to get you in the spirit in a new way. Composer Phil Kline came up with a unique way of Christmas caroling in 1992 where he made the audience become the performer. Phil Kline composed four tracks of music that each participant gets in the form of a CD, cassette, or mp3. Every participant gets a different track and the tracks are meant to be played at the same time, creating a unique mobile sound sculpture that is different from every listener’s perspective.
