NEW CLASSICAL – LORETTA NOTARESCHI

May 10, 2021

New Classical Featured Artist – 05/10/21 – 05/23/21

In honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, this week’s New Classical streaming playlist will be featuring Dr. Loretta K. Notareschi and her piece String Quartet OCD. Dr. Notareschi is a professor of music at Regis University and is very open about her mental health. One of the hardest moments of her life was when she grappled with an unnerving postpartum obsessive-compulsive disorder. Postpartum OCD, which affects approximately 3 to 5% of mothers, is characterized by intense fear and anxiety, in response to which mothers develop repetitive coping behaviors. Dr. Notareschi used her musical talent to raise awareness about this issue and to start a conversation. You can read and learn more about her by clicking here.

Our host, Salvador Perez Lopez, had the chance to talk with Dr. Notareschi, and you’ll hear first hand about her story and her piece String Quartet OCD in this playlist. Connect with Classical Music Indy’s New Classical channel for this and more.
